There is something for everyone at Root, and, yes, even for the carnivore of the family. Everything is 100% vegan at this restaurant and bar. Vegan beer? That’s right.
From pasta to cheesecake and everything in between, the entire menu focuses on making everyday meals healthier without the use of meat, poultry, seafood, eggs or dairy products.
The restaurant opened in late December 2015 and offers seating for 84 guests – 54 in the bar/dining area and 30 in the back dining area. The menu, which features appetizers such as Oyster Mushroom Tataki and Philly Portabella Spring Rolls, changes every six to eight weeks to take advantage of seasonal items that are available from Lancaster Farm Fresh Co-op.
Some of the main dishes that were featured in late winter included Caribbean Tofu, Mushroom Taco with Kimchi, and Potato and Tofu Curry.
Beer and wine selections are also vegan-friendly, with various rotating beers on tap and several wines to choose from.
Everything is made from scratch and prepared daily, so it is noted on the restaurant’s website to “please allow extra time for preparation.”
In addition to dinner, the restaurant also offers brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
